Self-assembly in saponin mixtures: Escin/tea, tea/glycyrrhizic acid, and escin/glycyrrhizic acid mixtures

چکیده

Saponins are plant based biosurfactants that obtained from a wide variety of species. They surface active glycosides with hydrophobic group, which is commonly triterpenoid or steroidal and saccharide hydrophilic units. Their structures markedly different conventional synthetic surfactants, present interesting challenges in understanding their optimal packing self-assembled such as micelles. Furthermore the molecular available provide opportunities to optimise mixed systems. In current literature there limited information on saponin self-assembly, especially mixtures. The general view globular more elongated micelle form at relatively low concentrations. Here small angle neutron scattering, SANS, used investigate quantify structure escin, tea glycyrrhizic acid micelles particularly escin/tea, tea/glycyrrhizic escin/glycyrrhizic mixtures focus principally how headgroup affect self-assembly. Tea saponins micelles, whereas escin larger structures. changes observed reflect constraints associated aglycone section differences headgroups. escin/tea acid/tea greater intrinsic curvature dominates over much composition range explored. For mixture size aggregation number go through minimum an approximately equimolar composition, this implies difficulty efficient two structures, results increase preferred

Nanoparticle self-assembly in mixtures of phospholipids with styrene/maleic acid copolymers or fluorinated surfactants.

Self-assembling nanostructures in aqueous mixtures of bilayer-forming lipids and micelle-forming surfactants are relevant to in vitro studies on biological and synthetic membranes and membrane proteins. Considerable efforts are currently underway to replace conventional detergents by milder alternatives such as styrene/maleic acid (SMA) copolymers and fluorinated surfactants. However, these com...

Enantioenrichment in sublimed amino acid mixtures.

A real amplification of an initial enantiomeric excess can be detected when two amino acids are sublimed at high temperature, even if one of the components is a racemic compound that does not convert into a conglomerate by sublimation.

Self-Assembly in Mixtures of Polymers and Small Associating Molecules

The interaction between a flexible polymer in a good solvent and smaller associating solute molecules such as amphiphiles (surfactants) is considered theoretically. Attractive correlations, induced in the polymer because of the interaction, compete with intra-chain repulsion and eventually drive a joint self-assembly of the two species, accompanied by partial collapse of the chain. Results of t...

Self-assembly in mixtures of amphiphilic polymers and surfactants

– We present a model for the joint self-assembly of amphiphilic polymers and small amphiphilic molecules (surfactants) in a dilute aqueous solution. The polymer is assumed to consist of a hydrophilic backbone and a large number of hydrophobic side groups. Preference of the surfactant to bind to hydrophobic microdomains along the polymer induces an effective attraction between bound surfactants....

Chiral Self-Assembly of Nanotubules and Ribbons from Phospholipid Mixtures

Nanoscale structures have been found to self-assemble in a binary mixture of a long-chain, diacetylenic phospholipid and a short chain, saturated lipid. We observe unusual chiral-optical signatures of nanotubule, twisted ribbon, and microtubule morphologies that can be used to monitor their temporal and thermal stability. Circular dichroism results suggest that chiral packing of the lipids driv...
